Our six months in New York have come to an end aft Our six months in New York have come to an end after one of the most fraught and difficult periods that I can remember. Most notably I had to say goodbye to my mother. No matter how much we can expect this loss it always comes as a shock when it happens. In this painting I have assembled objects that had personal meaning for Mom and also myself in relation to her. It was an effort, perhaps feeble, to hold on to her presence. Final painting from our stay in Florida. We’ve l Final painting from our stay in Florida. We’ve left the house, taken what we want and have returned to New York. We just keep telling ourselves we’ve done the right thing because we won’t be able to live with the threat of hurricanes and the cost of protecting ourselves from them for the rest of our lives. I love these 1920s original lamb planters on the front porch. Since I am not convinced they’re going to survive when these new buyers take over the place, I featured them in my paintings as much as I could.
