This extraordinary display of wind chimes in the Parco dei Calanchi ( Badlands Park) just under the town of Aliano where we just had an advanced painters seminar, was recently installed for the annual arts festival, la Luna e i Calanchi (the Moon and the Badlands). What was almost as extraordinary were the ultra modern ecological toilet pods in wood that were installed nearby. Never seen anything like this in an absolutely stunning setting. #pleinairpainting #landscapepainting #calanchi #Aliano

The determination of these painters to get up early and capture the sunrise over the Calanchi (Badlands) of Aliano, the town made famous in Carlo Levi’s Christ Stopped at Eboli, is even more awesome than the sunrise itself. And, I must say these are some of the most awesome sunrises I’ve ever seen. Joe and I have brought a group of advanced painters here to do a nine day intensive painting seminar, dedicated to the memory of Carlo Levi, writer, painter, social activist , and one of the greatest humanitarians of the 20th century. #pleinairpainter#pleinairpainting #landscapepainting #contemporarylandscapepainting #aliano
